National School Counselor Week February 1-5 2010
Randy I. Dorn, Superintendent of Public Instruction, proclaims National School Counselor Week February 1-5.
"School counseling programs are collaborative efforts benefiting students, parents, teachers, administrators and the overall community. Comprehensive school counseling programs are an integral part of students’ daily educational environment."
The Washington School Counselor Association (WSCA):
- Recent research has shown that fully implemented comprehensive school counseling programs help ALL students achieve.
- WSCA has a plan to ensure that EVERY student in our state has access to a truly comprehensive school counseling program.
- collaboration with OSPI and the Navigation 101 program in development of a “white paper” outlining the future direction for school counseling.
- passage of RCW 28A.410.043 establishing the role of school counseling in WA.
- collaboration with WSSDA in authoring a new sample policy on guidance and counseling for local school boards
