Professional Recognition Committee

The Professional Recognition Committee is responsible for seeking exemplary individuals or groups in relationship to work done regarding the profession of school counseling.

  1. Shall appoint a Professional Recognition Selection Committee.
  2. Shall solicit nominations for outstanding counselors and outstanding counselor advocates via the WSCA newsletter, listserv, and web site.
  3. Shall set nomination deadlines, coordinate and organize dates for the Selection committee to select winners.
  4. Shall coordinate the annual awards ceremony at the Spring Conference.
  5. Shall determine a selection process to decide winners of awards.
  6. Shall order the appropriate certificates or plaques and present them at the annual conference.
  7. Shall submit names and pertinent data of award recipients for publication in the WSCA newsletter published after the annual conference, on the WSCA web site, the recipients’ district newsletter, and/or the recipients’ local or regional newspaper.  In addition, the local boards of education of the winners shall receive information on the respective award winners.
  8. Assist in the submission of credentials of award recipients to ASCA for possible national recognition.
  9. Assume such other responsibilities as agreed upon by the President.
